Just in time too! We are in the hump days of Pride season--and it's my birthday week (July 17th--you can send your presents anytime now). Not only is it the perfect time for the resurrection of Cody Wilde because of Pride Week, but some crazy bitches are thinking they are going to run this beautiful country that I call home? No, honey--you two are a bit TOO FISHY for my taste. So, who better to battle the wits and read a bitch than yours truly!

Seven Are Arrested for 'Homosexual Activities' in the Maldives

Our friends at Towleroad.com and Haveeru are reporting that the Maldives Police Services have arrested 7 men for 'homosexual activities'.

"Police said that they had been arrested based on information the Police had received. Each person was arrested separately and all are between the ages of 20 and 50, Police said. A resident of the island said on Monday that the seven people belonged to the 'same network' and that the two oldest among them were Imams of the two district mosques in the island. He further said that one of them was no longer a practicing Imam and that they were conducting their activities inside a house belonging to one of those who had been arrested. 'There have been rumours about their activities for a long, long time now,' the resident of the island, who wished to remain anonymous, said. 'However, it finally came out into the open when a video of their activities was leaked.'"

Media Frenzy for Public Outing of an Airport Employee

Right here, in the very city that I live in--San Diego--one of the more 'progressive' news stations, KGTV-TV San Diego's ABC10, is under fire for outing a local TSA/San Diego Int'L Airport employee as being a transsexual.

The 'report' made by ABC10 can be viewed HERE--citing that there were several complaints that co-workers of said transsexual were uncomfortable and other complaints.

After the airing of ABC10's coverage on this 'report', several viewers blew up the online comment feature protesting this article--which was also led to GLAAD taking action.

Personal Editorial: Why I hate the phrase "fag hag".

The other day, it was brought to my attention that someone I had called a "fruit fly" instead of "fag hag" didn't understand why I used that phrase and instead of the other--were slightly offended. (Never the intent by the way).

Let me just say this: "Fruit Fly" is the more colorful and perhaps PC (politically correct version) of "fag hag"...why? Because it's giving license to make the word (and variations of) "faggot" be okay to use.

I, personally, wish not to use the "FH" term for that reason. Why? 1) I am a SURVIVOR (not a victim) of a gay bashing and heard it for as long as I could during that time. 2) It was used constantly when I was a teenager, aimed at kids who were and were not gay, in my small Indiana town. 3) I am very political when it comes to gay rights, protection and equality.

The term "faggot" should never be used or be okay--no matter what the variation or case it is used. And if you want to use the excuse that "you were referring to the bundle of twigs and sticks"--then you are an idiot. That's FAGOT.

Thank you.

So, that is why I use "fruit fly"--you are not a maggot or an actual pest...but it's a cute term of endearment for someone who is a best friend to many gay men. Okay?

Love you all...thank you for understanding and I will be more clear from here on out when I use a "Codyism".

Mother of slain Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado speaks out

For those unfamiliar with the name, Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado was the gay teen that was slain and mutilated in Puerto Rico for being gay--and his assailant claiming it was in 'self-defense for his comfort and sexuality'.

After a nationwide support vigil in honor of Mercado, his mother is coming out and speaking out to the public:

“When my son told me he was gay, I told him, ‘Now, I love you more.’ I want to tell the world that hatred is not born with human beings, it is a seed that is planted by adults and is fostered creating a climate of intolerance and violence. We must change our ways and understand that anyone …could have been my son. And I want everybody to know that Jorge Steven was a very much loved son.”

A former SS sergeant who has gone unnoticed during the years of Nazi terror, is has been charged with 58 counts of murder after a student doing an undergraduate study uncovered the revelation and reported it to the proper channels. The murders? Jewish prisoners during the Holocaust.

Adolf Storms, aged 90, was interviewed by the University of Vienna student and his professor for a total of 12 times last year--and he had denied the killings of 57-58 Jewish citizens--in which further digging had found that Storms and his accomplice had demanded the valuables of the Jews off of their bodies, made them kneel in front of a grave and then murdered them point-blank.

Authorities were notified and Storms and his unnamed accomplice are being charged for the deaths of said Jews.

First off, I am sorry to make this a biased entry, but for those who know me--I am in a love/hate situation with fellow blogger Perez Hilton. On Monday's episode of "The Joy Behar Show" on HLN, Perez Hilton was a panelist with Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, to discuss the revelation of 6 more "sex tapes" of Carrie Prejean. Amongst the chatter, Perez 'conveniently' let it 'slip' that he is writing a second book, to come out and shed 'light' on Carrie Prejean and his ordeal with Black Eyed Peas' frontman Will.I.Am.

Okay, I'm sorry--but Perez, drop the divatude, back up, grow a set, shut up, get over this incident with Will and move on! This isn't healthy for you, Bub. And whatever you put in this book, may wind up turning around and biting you in the ass.

From Novice Author to Co-Publisher? Young Offenders Unite!

Eric Arvin, a brilliant author, bodybuilding enthusiast and an incredible friend, has just announced on his blog, Daventry Blue, that he (and fellow author, Pat Nelson Childs) have created an alternative publishing house, Young Offenders Media. (Sounds like a young vigilante group from DC Comics, huh? I like it.)

I have inserted the Mission Statement that the YOM have on their new website, that Eric had, himself, posted on his blog:

"Young Offenders Media is a multimedia company with a focus on GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual) and other types of alternative fiction by both established and brand new authors. Our objective is to give authors all the tools they need for their books to be successful without taking away all of their control. While we ask them to work hard on their own behalf, we will also support them with a wide array of promotional materials, cooperative advertising and publicity events, plus the chance to collaborate with musicians, videographers, artists and other writers to cross-promote and get in touch with a much wider audience.

We print and distribute to order to save money and trees, and the savings goes straight back to our authors in the form of higher royalties and better promotional opportunities.
While publishing is our main emphasis, we also promote, produce and market on behalf of visual artists, musicians and (soon we hope) independent video and filmmakers both alone and in cooperation with other media companies.

We plan to release our first titles in the Spring."

A man claims that his friend came on to him, then he strangled him

A man from City Heights (which is technically in the San Diego city/co-op) in California, Jorge Luis Munoz, 24, claims that he strangled his friend because "he came on to me".

This is terrifying because this is in the same city that I live in. This is a sign of how prejudice and hate/fear is still out there.

Towleroad.com is reporting (from a LA-based journalist) that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed two bills last night.

One of said bills was to designate May 22nd the official "Harvey Milk Day" for the state of California. The other bill is to recognize same-sex marriage, only if gay couples received their marriages elsewhere outside of California.

Obama, who--as the rest of the world--was stunned at the news that he had won, announced that this isn't a victory--it's "a call to action".

"Dress more manly" Be all that you can be!

Jonathan Escobar, a 16-year-old from Kennesaw, Georgia, was told at his new school (North Cobb High) to dress more manly. Why? Jonathan considers himself a "cross-dresser". According to Towleroad.com and the Associated Press, the 16-year-old male was told by the school's assistant principal to "dress more manly or consider himself home-schooled for now on", last week. Escobar had only been a student there for just 3 days when he was told about his attire.

According to the school's AP, the boy's attire had started a fight amongst students--and all he had worn was a pink wig.

Escobar withdrew from school just two days later.

First off, I am just amazed that this made it's way to Towleroad.com, but for it to be in the local paper--which is ran by a highly-conservative company, I am just astonished and proud.

Miss Gay Indiana, a drag show pageant that is typically held in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne or other larger cities in Indiana and that is your typical drag show, was held in my hometown, y'all--in good ol' Muncie, Indiana--home of the Ball State Cardinals.

Suicide for "Little Britain"

Sad news from across "the pond", former Little Britain star, Matt Lucas' ex-husband was found dead in his Edinburgh flat by local police.

He was found hanging, an apparent suicide with a strange Facebook status update that served as a suicide note, "Kevin McGee believes that death is much better than life."

Kevin McGee, who was a TV producer, was thought to have been deeply depressed due to just breaking up with Matt Lucas just months ago.

He was 34.

Right-wingers are going nuts over Jennings and spreading slander stating that Jennings "would like to spread his homosexuality throughout our nation's schools and into our children's minds, contempt for religion and drug use".

These conservative channels say they are ''fair and balanced''. So is attacking the reputation of an innocent man "fair and balanced"? I say boycott FOX news and other conservatives--but that is just stooping to their level.

Rio! 2016 Olympics are going south!

It's official! The 2016 Olympics will be going to Rio de Janiero. Finally, South America gets the Summer Games. After many candidate presentations and deliberations (trust me, I know--I watched it all on MSNBC late last night/early this morning), the Brazilian city was granted the bid--despite having President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey there to make the presentation of Chicago.

Face time for today's gay and lesbian characters on the small screen keeps getting better and better.

After a recent press release from GLAAD, you can now find at LEAST 44 gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered characters on American TV.

"Americans now see LGBT couples marrying, raising families and contributing to their communities," said GLAAD president Jarrett Barrios.

Barrios said that 1990s era shows like "Will & Grace" and "Ellen" that broke boundaries for gays and lesbians, were "limited in their expression of their romantic lives."

In a recent statement, these two open-minded (and dare I say 'yummy') NFL rising stars spoke in favor of gay rights.

"Looking at the former restrictions on human rights in our country starting with slavery, women not being able to vote, blacks being counted as two thirds of a human, segregation, no gays in the military (to list a few) all have gone by the wayside. But now here in 2009 same sex marriages are prohibited. I think we will look back in 10, 20, 30 years and be amazed that gays and lesbians did not have the same rights as every one else. How did this ever happen in the land of the free and the home of the brave? Are we really free?"—Brendon Ayanbadejo, NFL linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens.

"I hope he's right in his prediction, and I hope even more that it doesn't take that long. People could look at this issue without blinders on...the blinders imposed by their church, their parents, their friends or, in our case, their coaches and locker rooms. To Love til Death: Fed Court dismisses Florida lesbian's lawsuit

Miami, Florida--

The United States District Court for the southern part of Florida DISMISSED a lawsuit made by a Florida lesbian, Janice Langbehn. Ms. Langbehn, her 3 adopted children and in the memory of her late lover, Lisa Pond--being represented by Lambda Legal Services, are suing Jackson Memorial Hospital. Reason? The hospital refused to allow the children and Ms. Langbehn to see Ms. Pond for 8 hours while Ms. Pond was slipping into a coma and died. The hospital, literally, kept them apart. Janice was told by the hospital that they were in an anti-gay city and state and not to expect anything.

Last month, the entertainment industry--both the gay and straight venues--lost an incredible, energetic and unique man to a nasty human flaw--drug addiction.

He was found in his New York apartment home dead, with drug paraphernalia found in the next room.

This week, the New York Medical Examiner's office has confirmed that the cause of death was due to an apparent drug overdose. In the system of the 36-year-old was cocaine, OxyContin, Vicodin, Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, Benadryl, and Levamisole--used to cut into cocaine.

Adam Goldstein has said in past interviews that he has had addictions to crack cocaine and ecstasy.

Adam passed away on August 28th.

Matthew Sheapard's Killer Gets a Voice

10 years ago, "The Laramie Project" was debuted. A play that described the life, the turmoil, and the legacy that was left for us by an innocent Matthew Shepard.

10 years later, a sequel to that very project is giving a voice to the killer of Shepard in an epilogue. The creators are highlighting a prison interview of Aaron McKinney, however it's not paying homage to the killer.

The sequel is due to be debut October 12th, nationwide at 132 theaters.

The Federation of Gay Games held a meeting in Cologne, Germany recently announced that the 2014 Gay Games will be hosted by Cleveland, Ohio--beating out Washington, D.C. and Boston.
